Swimming in the lights while swordfishing. Played with the photo and colors to see what I could bring out and here it is. A wonder of the ocean. |

Dave Russell that he had his first Marlin on my boat "Keep'er" last Sunday. We had these nice fresh Spanishs Macks all rigged and ready. Dropped one back "wham" it got hit and took half the spool off the Int 50. We got suspicious when it never jumped but Dave fought like a trooper for 45 minutes. Finally we a look at Mr. Hammerhead. We cut the leader and sent him on his way. Capt Bob Swann |

Should we enter the TWT?
Posted by NEFMA Webmaster
Not only does this picture remind me why I love living in St. Augustine, but also stepping out on a limb is not bad either. This rockfish/striped bass was caught April 22, 2005 on the Chesapeake Bay in one of the earlier tournaments. It was 38 degrees and intermittent rain storms and I wore everything I brought plus whatever else I could find! This fish decided to bite us about 20 minutes before we were calling it quits. Judging was by length rather than weight and ours measured 43 inches and weighed 42 lbs. It was 3/8" shy of first place! There were 720 boats in this tournament and the guys who won 1st place beat us by 3/8". They took home $30,000!!! Our fish, second place, only brought in $5000, but first place did not elect to enter the TWT, so second place ended up with $46,000!!! Next April I hope it is warmer! |

Kevin Breen record black drum
Posted by Web Visitor
My son Kevin Breen, who was 10 at the time, caught this 80 lb. black drum fish last April (2002). He was fishing in the Delaware Bay with my husband and some friends. He was using clams for bait and felt a chomp at around 11:30 pm. He said the fish kept going and going. He had to fight the fish entirely by himself. It took approximately 30 minutes for Kevin to get it to the boat. He was awarded a world junior record from the IGFA in July of 2002. |
